Monday Quotes: YALLFest Edition

Monday Quotes YALLFest
Diana and I spent all of yesterday driving back from Charleston (7 hours for her, 9 hours for me), so we’re keeping today’s edition of Monday Quotes short and sweet. Today we’re highlighting quotes from books we plan to read after meeting or just being in the presence of the following lovely authors at YALLFest 2013.

Teasers from books we want to read after seeing the authors at YALLFest:

“Proxy” by Alex London

“Destiny is just the inevitable result of choice, from the choices that came before us to the choices we make. They are a river that can only flow in one direction.”

“Rapture Practice” by Aaron Hartzler

“I am no match for the disappointment in their eyes, and mh own fill up with tears.  What can I say to make this better?  These are the people spending their lives trying to bring me up according to all the commands in God’s word.  They follow all the rules Dad teaches other parents.  Now I’m the kid who is proving to b the exception to their rules.  They’ve done everything right–so why am I already straying from the path?”

“A Beautiful Dark” by Jocelyn Davies

“You don’t have a heartbeat,” I realized.
“Does that bother you?” He asked.
“No.” I thought for a minute. “As long as you can feel things and care about things.”
“It’s a misconception that you need a heart to love,” Asher whispered into my hair.

“The Magicians” by Lev Grossman

“For just one second, look at your life and see how perfect it is. Stop looking for the next secret door that is going to lead you to your real life. Stop waiting. This is it: there’s nothing else. It’s here, and you’d better decide to enjoy it or you’re going to be miserable wherever you go, for the rest of your life, forever.”

“The Boy on the Bridge” by Natalie Standiford

“Laura, this isn’t love. Love lets you go on a trip without following you. Love can live without you for a week, knowing you’ll come back.’

‘No, it can’t.’ The afternoon shadows grew long and cold. In spite of the chill, a heat rose up inside her and flooded her face. ‘That’s how you know it’s true love. When he can’t live without you.’

Karen shook her head. ‘That’s how you know it’s obsession. Or something else.”

Yes! We are planning to keep it up until we’ve exhausted our ability to underline and Google our favorite quotes 😉 I’m almost done with PROXY and highly, highly recommend it.
