1. “Dreams of Gods & Monsters” (Daughter of Smoke and Bone #3) by Laini Taylor – I loved both books in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy and I can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen to Akiva, Karou, the Chimaera and the Seraphim. Can’t. Wait. To. Find. Out. (Publish date: April 17) –Diana
2. “Guardian” by Alex London – I recently finished “Proxy” and was blown away Alex London’s writing (it doesn’t hurt that I met him at YALLFest and thought he was funny, sweet and clever). This is an amazing series, and I HAVE TO KNOW what happens to Syd, Knox (!) and Marie (whom he named after author Marie Lu). Read this dystopian series! (Publish date: May 29) –Sandie
3. “Isla and the Happily Ever After” by Stephanie Perkins – I’ve shared it before, I can’t wait for this book to come out. I’m hoping for more of Anna, Etienne, Cricket, and Lola. I also can’t wait to meet some new characters. (Publish date: May 13) –Diana
4. “The Raven Cycle” No. 3 by Maggie Stiefvater – I’m trying not to make this list all sequels, but Maggie Stiefvater’s “Raven Cycle” keeps getting better and better. Maggie’s books take time to read, but once you commit, you’re hooked. This is as good of a supernatural story as I’ve ever read and every character gets a spotlight in the story. (Fall 2014) –Sandie
5. Untitled by John Green – According to the Goodreads list, John Green is supposed to have a book released in 2014. Like most of his fans, I don’t need to know the title, the plot, or the characters to anticipate this book. All I need to know is that it’s being written by John Green, ’nuff said. –Diana
6. “Grasshopper Jungle” by Andrew Smith – I think I’ve had this book marked as “Currently Reading” for two months on Goodreads, but I haven’t gotten past the Editor’s Note. It’s intimidating, but in the best way possible. Here’s a bit from the prologue: “There are things in here: Babies with two heads, insects as big as refrigerators, God, the devil, limbless warriors, rocket ships, sex, diving bells, theft, wars, monsters, internal combustion engines, love, cigarettes, joy, bomb shelters, pizza, and cruelty.” (Publish date: Feb. 11) –Sandie
7. “Hollow City” (Miss Peregrine, #2) by Ransom Riggs – I really liked “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.” After hearing Ransom Riggs at YALLfest and seeing him with his beautiful wife, Tahereh Mafi, I’m an even bigger fan of his. I’m really looking forward to this sequel and finding out what happens to Jacob and the crew of “peculiar” children. (Publish date: Jan. 14) –Diana
8. “We Were Liars” by E. Lockhart – True love, lies, the truth, a mysterious island and Lockhart’s fabulous writing weaving the story together? I’m there. I’ve only read a couple of her books, but that’s all it takes to know she’s a great writer who does words and love and adolescence justice. (Publish date: May 13) –Sandie
9. “The Iron Trial” (Magisterium, #1) by Cassandra Clare and Holly Black – I loved Clare’s “Infernal Devices” trilogy and am thrilled to see that she is releasing a new series (with her literary BFF Black). It’s going to be about magic, so it’s easy to want to read it. I know there will be tons of amazing new characters to love. (Publish date: Oct. 2) –Diana
10. “Landline” by Rainbow Rowell – We’d read anything Rainbow writes, obviously, but this adult romance about a married woman reconnecting with a younger version of her husband (and possibly saving her current marriage) via an enchanted landline phone sounds all sorts of awesome. As someone married nearly as long as the protagonist, I’m especially intrigued! (Publish date: July 8) –Sandie
Eee! Can’t wait for most of these books! I”m really excited about Hollow City; been waiting for that one for quite a while!
Candice, I’ve been waiting for Hollow City for a long time as well. It’s been so long, I probably have to reread “Miss Peregrine.”
I’m also looking forward to Rainbow Rowell’s new book! I nearly added it to my list. Great choices.
Oh! Totally agree with almost everything on the list. I’ve been waiting for the “Isla” book for the last year (wasn’t it supposed to come out in the fall?!). And the Laini Taylor book can’t get here fast enough. I loved how the second ended. Hurry! Hurry!
Jessica, I’m with you regarding the “Isla” book and the Laini Taylor book, hurry, hurry, is right!
I saw “Grasshopper Jungle” on GoodReads and entered the giveaway for review copies a while ago. Didn’t win a copy, but another giveaway was listed, so I entered again. Maybe I’ll get lucky this time! If not, well, February isn’t *that* far off.
It sounds really crazy and ridiculous in a good way, kind of like “John Dies at the End” by David Wong, and John Green tweeted that he thought it’d be a massive hit, so I have high hopes. :]
