2. Meg Cabot: As I mentioned last week, I’m embarrassed I haven’t read any of her books. Which one should I start with? I know she’s written eleventy books, and that Tammy needs me to fall for Michael Moscovitz! -Sandie
3. Maggie Stiefvater: I know, I know, I can’t believe it either. I haven’t read the “Shiver” series or “The Scorpio Races.” What can I say? There just aren’t enough hours in a day. -Diana
4. Tamora Pierce: I feel like nearly every woman I meet who is 30 or younger LOVES Tamora Pierce. She’s one of those authors with a devoted following. I’d love to read her books, but I’m hesitant to start yet another 4+ book series! -Sandie
5. James Patterson: Not only have I not read any of his books for teens, I have never read any of his NY Times bestselling books for adults. Maybe this summer I’ll finally read one. -Diana
6. Terry Pratchett: He’s won countless awards for his books, but I haven’t read any of them. The other day I saw a girl holding “Dodger” at the supermarket, and I nearly asked her what she thought of it (but I didn’t). –Sandie
7. Libba Bray: I’ve never read any of her books and I’m actually embarrassed about that because I’ve seen her at YALLFest and everytime I do, I wish I had read her books . So, maybe before next year’s YALLFest I’ll read one. -Diana
8. M.T. Anderson: Unlike Diana, I’ve read several Laurie Halse Anderson books, but I haven’t read any by M.T. Anderson, whose book “The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing” is definitely on my must-read list. –Sandie
9. Elizabeth Wein: Another amazing author whose books I have yet to read. Although she has written several books I especially want to read “Rose Under Fire” or “Code Name Verity.” Either way, I know they’ll be good. -Diana
10. Ellen Hopkins: I’ve seen Ellen Hopkins speak a few times, and she’s always so thoughtful and inspiring. I have no excuse not to read her books, especially because I don’t shy away from books with tough subject matter. I need to remedy this oversight this year! –Sandie
As always, thanks to The Broke and the Bookish for hosting, as always.
Oh you must try CODE NAME VERITY. It’s a bit unusual, and a slow build, but so so rewarding.
Ditto SCORPIO RACES by Maggie Stiefvater, who we adore.
Maggie Stiefvater is one of my favorites – her writing is so so gorgeous. I’d start with The Scorpio Races since it’s a standalone. You won’t be able to handle Sean and Puck’s perfection. 🙂
I so wasn’t a Shiver fan, but I’ve heard better things about The Scorpio Races. And as for Tamora Pierce, her books are SUPER short since they’re all the mass market paperback (at least the first few series are), so they would take no time at all to read. Plus, they’re, like, fantasy perfection and need to be experienced!
I’m with you Diana on Scorpio Races, though I’ve read most of her other books. Sandie – you need to read Princess Diaries. There might be 10-12 but they are really small and go fast!. I have Tamora Pierce on my list too. Her books sound great but I’m with you on starting ANOTHER series right now.
