Top Ten Tuesday: Authors We REALLY Want to Meet

May 12, 2015 by Diana Leave a Comment

Top Ten Tuesday
This week’s top ten is not only easy for us, it’s also a lot of fun. Sandie has had the opportunity to meet many authors and interview them, but there are still so many that she hasn’t had to chance to meet yet. I’ve met a few at YALLFest and it was so much fun. However, I would love to be able to spend some time and talk to these authors not just meet and greet them for an autograph. The only hard part about this list was narrowing it down to just ten. So here are the ten we’ve chosen as those authors we REALLY want to meet:

Diana’s Picks:

authors we'd like to meet
John Green: I know that he’s a super star author, but I would still love the opportunity to meet him. I love his books and sp does my son. My son is also into his vlogs so I would love to have him with me if the opportunity ever arises. John Green has inspired many teenaged boys to read books and for that alone, I would love to meet him and thank him.

Marissa Meyer: I love the Lunar Chronicles series. Luckily when I started reading them all three books were already available so I was able to read each one. Now I’m eagerly awaiting Winter. Each of her books has a male protagonist that you just can’t help swooning over. I would love to talk to her about her characters especially Prince Kai, Wolf, and Thorne and find out who were her inspirations for each one.

Laini Taylor: I love her Daughter of Smoke and Bone series, and Akiva and Karou are two of my favorite characters. Also, Laini just looks like she’d be a cool and fun person to talk to and hang out with. Not to mention that I love her pink hair and would love to see it up close.

John Corey Whaley: I absolutely love his books. I read his first book, Where Things Come Back when he was a debut author. Then when I read Noggin, I could honestly say that I would read all of his books. He appears to be such a nice, fun young man that I would enjoy chatting with. Plus, I’d ask him how in the world he came up with the idea for Noggin, and what he has coming up next.

Jessica Park: Jessica is not as well-known an author as some of the others on my list, but I’m a fan. Her book Flat-Out Love was one of the first contemporary YA books that I ever read and I absolutely LOVED it. I’ve also read the companion novels to  Flat-Out Love. She was one of the authors that contributed to Teen Lit Rocks when we first got started, and I would love to personally thank her for that.

Although I didn’t include them on my list because technically I’ve met these authors, I would love to be able to spend time with them: Gayle Forman, Rainbow Rowell, Stephanie Perkins, and Margaret Stohl.

Sandie’s Picks:

authors we'd love to meet
I’ve been lucky enough to meet and even interview dozens of authors (including several of the writers Diana mentioned and others like Maggie Stiefvater, Marie Lu, Alex London, Jandy Nelson, Marie Rutkoski, Jennifer Niven, Patrick Ness, and Leigh Bardugo — to name some of my favorites). But the authors I’m choosing today are writers I have yet to meet, but I hope to get the chance soon: Left to right that’s Melina Marchetta, Andrew Smith, Heather Demetrios, Elizabeth Wein, and Marcus Sedgwick. They’re all ridiculously smart, and I love their books. What more is there to say?
