This week our top ten list is about our Auto-buy authors. We all have them — the authors we enjoy so much that we pre-order anything they write, no matter the genre or the plot. We don’t care, just give us their books!
1. Rainbow Rowell: As far as I’m concerned, Rowell could write the phone book and I’d buy it and read it. I love all of her books and she’s also a very kind and gracious person. -Diana
2. Melina Marchetta: Did anyone even have a doubt? I’ll read anything she writees, period. Sometimes I re-read or re-listen to her books just because she never disappoints. -Sandie
3. Gayle Forman: I’ve read all of her books and I’ve never been disappointed. I look forward to whatever she has coming out next.-Diana
4. Jandy Nelson: Her books have affected me to the point that I often forget that Lennie and Joe or Noah and Jude are fictional (I know, it’s a problem). Seriously, her writing is gorgeous and deep and unforgettable. -Sandie
5. Stephanie Perkins: Her books are fun and romantic, what more could you want? I’ll buy whatever she writes. -Diana
6. Leigh Bardugo: OK, so she has only written four books, and three of those were a trilogy, but I love her writing style and her -Sandie
7. John Green: For me there’s no better reason to buy Green’s books than the fact that my son loves him. We read his books together and then we can talk about them. -Diana
8. Maggie Stiefvater: I should add the caveat that I don’t feel compelled to buy her Middle Grade books, but her YA novels — ALWAYS. -Sandie
9. John Corey Whaley: He’s only written two books but both have won many accolades, and I’m a fan. Whatever his next project is, I’ll be buying it. -Diana
10. Ruta Sepetys: She’s one of the experts of historical YA novels, and I find everything she writes to be worth reading. Plus, her books have fabulous protagonists and touching romances. -Sandie
Fab list! We share a few in common- Perkins, Rowell, Forman, and Sepetys are auto-buy for me. But I’m embarrassed to say I haven’t read any Melina Marchetta yet! Maybe listening will be the way to go.
Oh yes, you MUST read something by Marchetta. I recommend Saving Francesca followed by The Piper’s Son followed by Jellicoe Road then do the fantasy trilogy.
