The battle between four magical Londons comes to a head in this stunning finale to the New York Times bestselling Shades of Magic trilogy by rising star V. E. Schwab.
Londons fall and kingdoms rise while darkness sweeps the Maresh Empire—and the fraught balance of magic blossoms into dangerous territory while heroes and foes struggle alike. The direct sequel to A Gathering of Shadows, and the final book in the Shades of Magic epic fantasy series, A Conjuring of Light sees Schwab reach a thrilling culmination concerning the fate of beloved protagonists—and old enemies.
The third and final (!) installment of this story told in a universe of multiple London’s defined by their colors – Red London, White London, Grey London and Black London – “A Conjuring of Light” was officially released yesterday. We will finally catch up with Kell, Prince Rhy and Delilah Bard and watch as the delicate balance of powers the binds the alternate Londons tips and wavers bringing this storyline to conclusion.
Considered by many to be an adult/YA crossover, the “Shades of Magic” series is a natural draw for “Harry Potter” fans as well as fans of Leigh Bardugo’s “Grisha Triology” and “Six of Crows.” V.E. Schwab has created a world of parallels and paradigms, of magic and thievery, of power and poverty that will be appealing to YA lovers as well as fans of adult fantasy.
A fan of complex world building and intricately developed characters, I picked up the first in the trilogy – A Darker Shade of Magic – and couldn’t put it down until I was finished. I tore through A Gathering of Shadows equally quickly and have been waiting for this Wednesday for almost a year!
If you haven’t read “A Darker Shade of Magic” and “A Gathering of Shadows,” consider your weekend booked, and put “A Conjuring of Light” on your to-read list – you won’t be disappointed!
